I am posting the 2nd song on the “Inspiration songs playlist” and I chose “Born this way” by Lady Gaga.
I know she is a bit of a marmite singer; you either love her or hate her. I actually think she’s a great singer, but that can get lost by the theatrical stuff she does. I do, however, think “Born this way” is a brilliant self empowering anthem.
It’s about being who you are, and making no apologies for that. I love that message. I am who I am.
I also love the opening line; “My mama told me when I was young, we are all born superstars”. I just think children should be made to feel loved and special (I have my own trauma around that) and that opening line just makes me feel every one should feel like they are enough.
There has been some criticism of some of the lyrics, and I admit, a few lyrics make me cringe, but on the whole, it doesn’t take away the impact it has on me, as an empowerment anthem.
I hope the link works.
Take care,
Dawn.
