I think Freddo chocolate bars are the ultimate sign of the cost of living crisis. They have always been small bars. I remember when they were 10p and they were an after tea treat. Now they are 40p in some shops.
Of course, Freddo bars are not the only thing that has had it’s price raised, but its something that has caused a lot of outrage. We have seen rents, utilities, water bills, council tax, TV licence and public transport costs rises, so maybe it’s not too much to ask that a little chocolate bar; a tiny bit of comfort for people, is immune. Give us something!
I am writing this post, not as a rant about Freddie bars (well, not just a rant about Freddo bars), but as a reminder that it’s ok to be upset over the little things. And it’s ok, no matter what your income is, or how you get your income, to have something as a “treat” to yourself.
Just being alive is bloody hard at the moment, and seek enjoyment in the little things that make you happy. Even if it is a 40p Freddo bar.
